COL BKB: Mich. St. 87, Tex.-Arlington 68

EAST LANSING, Mich., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Durrell Summers scored 20 points off the bench Wednesday and No. 11 Michigan State pulled away late in the second half to defeat Texas-Arlington 87-68.

Texas-Arlington scored just two of the game's first 20 points, but rallied to trail by only six at halftime. The Michigan State lead was still a mere 10 midway through the second half, but the Spartans ended the game on a 23-14 run.

Draymond Green added 19 for the Spartans (10-3), who had lost in their previous outing against Texas. Kalin Lucas had 16 points and Chris Allen 14 while making 4-of-7 attempts from 3-point range.

Texas-Arlington (5-5) was led by Marquez Haynes with 20 points.

Michigan State has won 47 consecutive home games against non-conference opponents. The Spartans open their Big Ten Conference schedule Saturday at Northwestern.
