Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
CLEMSON, S.C., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Demontez Stitt and Noel Johnson scored 13 points apiece for No. 18 Clemson, which held off a late South Carolina State surge Tuesday to edge the Bulldogs 70-67.
Stitt sank a pair of free throws near the end to keep Clemson three points ahead after the Bulldogs had pulled to within a point with a half-minute to play.
Trevor Booker contributed 12 points in the sixth consecutive win for the Tigers (12-2).
Darnell Porter led South Carolina State (6-4) with 19 points. Jason Flagler added 16 and Arsenio Williams had 12.
