
HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Stanley Robinson's 29 points and five rebounds Sunday led 11th-ranked Connecticut to a 93-74 rout of Iona.
The Gaels scored the game's first basket and stayed close much of the first half. But after Scott Machado's 3-pointer pulled them within 23-20 with 9:17 left in the half, UConn built a 45-31 lead at the break with a 22-11 spurt.
Iona faced a double-digit deficit the entire second half.
Jerome Dyson scored 17 with seven assists, Kemba Walker 14 with seven assists and five rebounds, and Jamal Coombs-McDaniel, the fourth player in double figures, added 13 points and three steals for the Huskies (9-2), who have won three in a row.
Machado led Iona with 14 points and five assists.
Rashard McGill scored 12 with four rebounds and Rashon Dwight 12 with three assists. Jonathan Huffman added 10 points and five rebounds for the Gaels (8-5), who shot just 42.4 percent from the floor and had their four-game winning streak stopped.
