NHL: Detroit 2, Columbus 1

DETROIT, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Todd Bertuzzi scored both Detroit goals Saturday in the Red Wings' 2-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Jimmy Howard made 28 saves and Nicklas Lindstrom assisted on both Detroit goals.

Antoine Vermette scored the lone goal for the Blue Jackets, who lost their ninth consecutive game, a team record. Mathieu Garon had 25 saves in the loss.

The Blue Jackets took a 1-0 lead at 12:10 of the first period when Vermette knocked in a rebound off a shot by Jakub Voracek.

Bertuzzi tied it at 6:38 of the second period on a 2-on-2 breakaway. He made the game-winning shot at 2:44 of the third period.
