Trump buys, converts New Jersey golf club

CAMDEN, N.J., Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Real estate mogul Donald Trump purchased Pine Hill Golf Club and converted the New Jersey site into a private club, a Trump company executive says.

Trump golf division executive Dan Scavino said Trump's decision to purchase the exclusive golf club in Camden County, N.J., and close it off to the general public is part of the mogul's overall club efforts, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Friday.

"All of Donald's clubs across the country, they're all private clubs, ultra-exclusive, beautiful golf clubs," Scavino said.

Trump purchased the club and its 10-year-old golf course Thursday from Empire Golf Management for an undisclosed price. Trump promptly renamed the converted site Trump National Golf Club-Philadelphia.

Trump said Pine Hill is very similar to the nearby Pine Valley Golf Club.

"Pine Valley is rated the No. 1 course by virtually everybody," Trump said. "And this is the same land, same trees, same soil conditions, same grass and, quite frankly, we have many Pine Valley people playing the course all the time."

The Enquirer said in addition to purchasing the 365-acre course, Trump purchased Branton Woods Golf Club of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., on Thursday.
