WASHINGTON, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas is the target of team and NBA investigations for allegedly storing firearms in his locker, CBS Sportsline reported.
No charges have been filed, and the report noted the NBA collective bargaining agreement allows players to legally possess firearms only when they are not on league property or not conducting league business.
"The Wizards organization and Arenas promptly notified local authorities and the NBA, (and we) are cooperating fully with law enforcement during its review of this matter," the team said in a statement.
The veteran long-range shooting specialist told The Washington Times the incident occurred around Dec. 10, when he moved weapons from his home to his lock box at Verizon Center, the Wizards' home floor, after his daughter was born.
"I decided I didn't want the guns in my house and around the kids anymore," Arenas told the Times.
