St. Louis broke a 2-2 tie in the second period by erupting for three goals over a 3:39 span. Boyes started the flurry with a fluky goal that deflected off the stick of Edmonton's Ladislav Smid at 13:29, and Berglund scored on a power play three minutes later.

Jay McClement's snap shot beat Oilers goalie Devan Dubnyk to complete the outburst.

Edmonton was led by goals from Dustin Penner and Sam Gagner, while Dubnyk gave up all seven St. Louis goals.
