COL BKB: Connecticut 71, Maine 54

HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Jerome Dyson posted 27 points for 11th-ranked Connecticut, which used two second-half spurts to pull away Tuesday and down cold-shooting Maine 71-54.

Stanley Robinson contributed 14 points and Alex Oriakhi grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked four shots for the Huskies (8-2).

Maine kept the score close until UConn went on a 13-5 run and shortly afterward, the Huskies added a 12-0 string.

Terrance Mitchell tallied 13 points and Gerald McLemore 10 for the Black Bears (5-5), who hit just 28.6 percent of their field goal attempts.
