NHL: Montreal 4, Atlanta 3 (OT)

ATLANTA, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Marc-Andre Bergeron tied the game late and then notched the game-winner in overtime Monday, lifting the Montreal Canadiens to a 4-3 win over Atlanta.

Bergeron beat Atlanta goalie Johan Hedberg with 2:09 left in regulation to produce a 3-3 tie after the Canadiens went on the power play thanks to a hooking call on the Thrashers' Zach Bogosian.

Then, midway through overtime, Bergeron got a pass in the slot from Tomas Plekanec, shifted the puck to his backhand and put it in the goal as he crashed into Hedberg and dislodged the net. The play was upheld after a video review, giving Montreal the win.

Jaroslav Halak stopped 47 shots for the Canadiens, while Plekanec had a goal and three assists and Andrei Kostitsyn also scored.

Nik Antropov registered two goals for the Thrashers.
