Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

TEMPE, Ariz., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Starting OT Mike Gandy of the Arizona Cardinals underwent sports hernia surgery, the Cardinals said Monday.
The procedure was done in Philadelpia Friday, and is expected to keep Gandy out for three to six weeks, Coach Ken Whisenhunt said.
Gandy, who had his 31 game playing streak come to an end Dec. 6 against the Vikings, has been slowed by the injury for a number of weeks.
Gandy, a nine-year NFL veteran out of Notre Dame, this season started 12 games this season for the Cards and 106-of-108 for Chicago, Buffalo and the Cardinals.
