Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
SAN DIEGO, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Nate Kaeding's 52-yard field goal with 3 seconds left Sunday lifted the San Diego Chargers to a 27-24 win over Cincinnati.
The win enabled the Chargers (11-3) to overcome blowing an 11-point fourth-quarter lead and clinch the AFC West. Philip Rivers was 24-of-38 passing for 308 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.
Vincent Jackson picked up 108 yards and two scores on five receptions for San Diego, which took its ninth straight game.
The Chargers began the winning drive at their own 20. The drive was keyed by Rivers' 20-yard pass to Jackson to the Cincinnati 49, followed by a catch by Malcolm Floyd, who was able to get out of bounds at the 34 and stop the clock two plays later to set up the game-winning kick.
The Bengals (9-5) were mourning the death of wide receiver Chris Henry Thursday from injuries sustained after falling out of the back of a pickup truck.
Carson Palmer threw for a season-high 314 yards and two touchdowns on 27-of-40 passing for Cincinnati.
