
DETROIT, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant scored 28 points and Andrew Bynum added 16 Sunday to pace the Los Angeles Lakers to a 93-81 win over the Detroit Pistons.
Pau Gasol had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers, who went 4-1 on their road trip and have won 15 of their last 16 games overall. Ron Artest added 14 points and nine assists as Los Angeles improved to an NBA-best 22-4.
The Lakers went 13-of-17 from the free throw line in the first quarter compared with only one foul shot in the period for the Pistons, who saw Los Angeles build a 31-19 early advantage.
The Lakers stretched their lead to 56-38 at the half, and after Detroit pulled to within 89-81 in the fourth, Bryant answered with a jumper to quell the threat.
Rodney Stuckey led the Pistons with 16 points while Jonas Jerebko added 15 in the loss.
