DALLAS, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Tim Thomas, starting in place of injured Dirk Nowitzki, scored 22 points Sunday to pace the Dallas Mavericks to a 102-95 win over Cleveland.
Thomas also pulled down seven rebounds. Nowitzki was scratched from the contest with a sore right elbow, injured in Friday's game against Houston.
Jason Terry added 19 points off the bench for the Mavericks. Josh Howard scored 14 points, Drew Gooden had 12 and Jason Kidd had 10 points and 11 assists in the Dallas win.
LeBron James, who finished with 25 points in his 500th regular season game for the Cavaliers, missed a 3-point attempt that would have given Cleveland the lead with about 7 minutes left in the game. Dallas followed with six straight points, capped by Shawn Marion's jumper to make it 94-87 with 4 1/2 minutes left.
