TAG Heuer to 'downscale' Tiger Woods

LA-CHAUX-DE-FONDS, Switzerland, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- TAG Heuer, a Swiss maker of high-end watches, has announced it will "downscale" its use of Tiger Woods in its marketing campaigns.

The company, owned by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, joins a long list of other advertisers cutting or limiting ties to Woods, The New York Times said. The golfer is embroiled in a scandal over extramarital sex.

"The partnership with Tiger Woods will continue," TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Christophe Babin said in a statement Friday. "But we will downscale the use of his image in certain markets for a period of time, depending on his decision about returning to professional golf."

The company described Woods as "extremely professional and productive" as a brand ambassador for Tag Heuer, beginning in 2002.

Amid the brouhaha about his sex life, Woods got some good news Friday. PGA players voted him player of the year for the 10th time since he joined the tour 13 years ago.
