LOS ANGELES, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Dwight Lewis and Alex Stepheson combined for 40 points Saturday, leading Southern California in a 77-55 rout of eighth-ranked Tennessee.
The Trojans built a 33-20 halftime lead, keyed by a 14-1 run, and never looked back. Their biggest lead was 64-40 when Mike Gerrity sank a free throw with 6:56 left.
Lewis scored 21 with three assists. Stepheson had 19 points and 15 rebounds. Nikola Vucevic scored 15 with 10 rebounds, and Gerrity added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Trojans (5-4), who have won three in a row.
Scotty Hopson's 16 points led Tennessee.
Melvin Goins scored 10, while both Wayne Chism and Bobby Maze scored eight points for the Volunteers (8-2), whose a four-game winning streak ended.
They shot just 34.5 percent from the floor to USC's 56.1 percent, and sank only 13-of-25 free throws.
