NHL: Florida 6, Carolina 3

SUNRISE, Fla., Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Rostislav Olesz and Radek Dvorak each had a goal and two assists Friday in boosting Florida to a 6-3 decision over Carolina.

The Hurricanes remained stuck on eight victories, five fewer than any other team in the NHL. Florida has won three in a row and has picked up at least one point in five straight games.

Patrick Dwyer scored his first goal of the season to give Carolina the early lead, but the Panthers then ran off six in a row.

Bryan McCabe gave Florida the lead midway through the second period with both Dvorak and Olesz assisting on the goal.

Tomas Vokoun saved 32 shots to get the victory. Cam Ward allowed five goals on 26 shots over 45 minutes and gave way to Manny Legace, who faced just two shots the rest of the way.

Olesz and Dvorak scored 37 seconds apart early in the third period. It was the 200th goal of Dvorak's career.
