
TORONTO, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- DeMar DeRozan scored nine points during a huge first period Friday and Toronto coasted to a 118-95 victory over New Jersey.
Toronto outscored the Nets in the opening quarter 39-15 and easily handed New Jersey its sixth consecutive loss. The Nets have won just twice all season.
Amir Johnson came off the bench to score a game-high 18 points, most of them long after the contest had been decided.
DeRozan and Andrea Bargnani each had 16 points in helping the Raptors win for the second time in six games.
New Jersey was led by Chris Douglas-Roberts with 16 points.
Toronto finished the first quarter on an 18-3 run and the Raptors went on to claim a 70-33 lead at halftime. Toronto shot 59 percent from the floor and made 6-of-9 from 3-point range.
