Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24


NEW YORK, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Blake Comeau's late third-period goal Wednesday boosted the New York Islanders to a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers.
Cormeau's second goal this season extended the Islanders' lead to 2-0 at 16:50 of the third.
Jon Sim scored in the first, and Dwayne Roloson was credited with 25 saves on 26 shots for the Islanders, who had lost four of five.
Enver Lisin broke up Roloson's shutout with 55 seconds left in the third, and Henrik Lundqvist gave up two goals on 28 shots for the Rangers, who suffered their fifth straight loss.
The Rangers have not been held scoreless in any of their 33 games this season but have lost both their games against the cross-town Islanders.
Both teams went 0-for-2 on the power play.
