Quick is top NHL star of the week

NEW YORK, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick was selected the top star of the week by the National Hockey League.

The league, for games played Dec. 7-13, cited Quick's play in helping the Kings move to the top of the Western Conference in making him the No. 1 star of the week. Vancouver left wing Daniel Sedin and Phoenix goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov were also honored.

Quick was 3-0-0 last week, stopping 80 of 85 shots as the Kings, who have gone 8-1-1 over their last 10 games, and are first in the conference. Over his last seven games Quick is 6-0-1 with a 2.20 goals against average.

Sedin posted a hat trick against Atlanta and a goal and an assist in both of the other games for Vancouver last week. He has 18 points over his last 14 games.

Bryzgalov allowed only three goals over three games. He was 2-0-1 on the week, losing in an eight-round shootout to Quick and the Kings. Over his last seven games, Bryzgalov is 6-0-1 and he allowed just 10 goals during that span.
