Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

DENVER, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Colorado jumped ahead on Wojtek Wolski's first-period goal and led the rest of the way Sunday in a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Flames.
Chris Stewart gave the Avalanche a two-goal lead midway through the second period and Darcy Tucker completed Colorado's scoring later in the second.
Wolski and Stewart each added an assist in Colorado's fourth win in five games.
Rene Bourque scored for Calgary between the Stewart and Tucker goals and the Flames' Mark Giordano put in a power-play goal with 6:44 left in the game.
Craig Anderson made 19 saves for the Avalanche and Calgary's Miikka Kiprusoff had 32.
