Army, which lost 34-0 last season, took a 3-0 lead on Alex Carlton's 23-yard field goal on the last play of the first quarter and held it to halftime.

In the third period, Ricky Dobbs's 25-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Curry and a 36-yard field goal by Joe Buckley gave Navy what turned out to be an insurmountable 10-3 lead.

Dobbs finished with 174 all-purpose yards -- 113 rushing and 61 passing -- for the Midshipmen (9-4), who will play Missouri in the Texas Bowl Dec. 31 in Houston.

Trent Steelman's 77 yards passing and 16 rushing led the Black Knights (5-7), who lost a chance to earn an Eagle Bank bowl bid.
