Martin's eagle good for Dunhill lead

MALELANE, South Africa, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Pablo Martin shot 9-under-par 63 Friday and built a 4-stroke lead after two rounds of the European PGA Tour's Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa.

Martin closed his round at the Leopard Creek Country Club with an eagle 3 in jumping from a first-round tie for 14th to the halfway-point lead. He's at 13-under 131.

Ernie Els had a 5-under 67 and Edoardo Molinari a 3-under 69 Friday and are tied for second at 9-under. First-round leader Ulrich Van den Berg is among four golfers tied for fourth at 8-under. Another five players are at 7-under 137.

Martin was at 3-under for the day when he bogeyed the par-4 eighth hole for the second consecutive round. But he bounced back with a birdie at No. 9 and made the turn at 4-under 32.

He had four birdies over the five-hole span from 11-15. After a pair of pars, Martin finished the day with an eagle at the 541-yard, par-5 18th hole for a second-nine total of 31.

Els' round included eight birdies and three bogeys while Molinari missed a chance to take second place by himself when he had a bogey at No. 18.

Kelly's former Cincinnati players upset

CINCINNATI, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- University of Cincinnati players were angered by the decision of Coach Brian Kelly to fill the vacancy at the University of Notre Dame.

The 4th-ranked Bearcats carry their 12-0 record into a Sugar Bowl matchup on Jan. 1, 2010 against 5th-ranked Florida (12-1), last season's national champion, where they will be coached by offensive coordinator Jeff Quinn.

"I feel like he's known the whole time," said speedy wide receiver Mardy Gilyard after walking out of Kelly's meeting with the team Thursday night. "(Originally) he told me he was going to be here, but it is what it is. He made a business decision. I'm thoroughly disgusted with this situation."

"We're not going to let something like this take away from our accomplishment," tight end Ben Giudugli said angrily.

Kelly was unveiled at Notre Dame at a Friday afternoon news conference to succeed the fired Charlie Weis.

Ravens' Suggs facing $70 million lawsuit

BALTIMORE, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- A 26-year-old woman alleges in a $70 million lawsuit against Terrell Suggs that the Baltimore Ravens linebacker abused her on two occasions.

The Baltimore Sun reported Friday that in addition to the abuse allegations detailed in her Baltimore County Circuit Court lawsuit, Candace Williams filed a separate complaint alleging she is the mother of Suggs's two children.

Williams is seeking custody of the two young children, whose ages and names were not released.

Williams alleges in her suit, which is seeking $20 million in compensatory damages and $50 million in punitive damages, that Suggs hit her in the face Nov. 3 and threatened to kill her.

The Sun said Suggs is also accused of threatening to drown Williams with bleach on Nov. 29. The second incident, in which Suggs is accused of pouring bleach on Williams, prompted the woman to seek a restraining order against the NFL player.

Suggs, 27, had no comment on the matter.

"I really have nothing to hide. As bad as I want to talk about it right now, I can't," said the defensive standout, who missed the last three Ravens games with an injury.

British court backs Woods over photos

LONDON, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- A law firm representing Tiger Woods said a British court issued an injunction that forbids the publication of nude photos of the professional golfer.

The Schillings law firm said the injunction granted Thursday by the High Court in London would block the release of any nude photos of the U.S. golfer should such images exist, CNN reported Friday.

"For the avoidance of doubt, this order is not to be taken as an admission that any such photographs exist, and in the event that these photographs do exist, and it is not admitted, any such images may have been fabricated, altered, manipulated and or changed to create the false appearance and impression that they are nude photographs of our client," Schillings said in a letter to publications in Britain.

The court's ruling comes in the wake of allegations that Woods, 33, had extramarital affairs.

The married golfer, a father of two, who was involved in a single-car accident in Florida last month, has admitted to unspecified "transgressions," CNN reported.

"I have let my family down, and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart," Woods said on his Web site on Dec. 3.
