SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Dustin Brown scored an unassisted goal 1:16 into overtime Wednesday, giving Los Angeles a wild 5-4 victory over San Jose.

In a meeting of the top two teams in the Pacific Division, Los Angeles inched within three points of the front-running Sharks.

Los Angeles scored three times in the first 8:30 of the second period to take a 4-2 lead, but goals by Dan Boyle in the second and Manny Malhotra in the third brought the Sharks back into a tie.

Evgeni Nabokov kept the Kings off the scoreboard for the last 31:30 of regulation, but he surrendered Brown's seventh goal of the season in the extra period. Nabokov made 23 saves in the loss.

Erik Ersberg, starting for the first time in almost a month, allowed four goals on 34 shots to get his second victory of the season.
