LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- The International Olympic Committee has reallocated medals from the 2000 Sydney Games events in which Marion Jones, who has since been disqualified, competed.

Jones admitted to using banned substances prior to, during and after the 2000 Games in Australia. On Dec. 12, 2007, the IOC stripped Jones of medals she won in 2000 and 2004.

Jones won the 100 meters, 200 meters, placed third in the long jump and was on the winning 1,600-meter relay and third-place 400-meter relays teams. The IOC is awaiting action by the Court of Arbitration for Sport before reallocating those medals.

Bahamian sprinter Pauline Davis-Thompson, however, was moved to the gold medal position in the 200 meters and Sri Lankan Susanthika Jayasinghe was given the silver while Jamaican Beverly McDonald was awarded the bronze, the IOC said. Russian Tatyana Kotova is now the bronze medalist in the long jump.

However, the IOC didn't promote Greece's Ekatirini Thanou to the gold medal in the 100 because she was barred from the 2004 Olympics for missing drug tests before the games in Athens. That means, officially, Thanou and Jamaican Tanya Lawrence will each have a silver medal from the race and Merlene Ottey, another Jamaican, was given a bronze.
