ASHBURN, Va., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Kicker Shaun Suisham, who missed a short field-goal attempt in the Washington Redskins' loss last weekend to New Orleans, was cut Tuesday, the NFL team said.
Suisham, who was in his second season with the Redskins, made 18-of-21 field-goal attempts this year but it was a miss from 23 yards out Sunday that led to the roster move.
Washington was up 30-23 with 1:56 to play in the fourth quarter and was looking for Suisham to seal the victory over the undefeated Saints but he pushed the kick to the right. New Orleans went on to tie the score and win the game 33-30 in overtime.
Both of his other misses -- from 39 and 50 yards -- occurred during a 7-6 loss at Dallas last month.
The Redskins signed Graham Gano to take over their kicking duties. Gano played for Las Vegas of the United Football League this fall, making 14-of-16 field-goal attempts, including the game-winner in the UFL title game.
