MENLO PARK, Calif., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The 19-year-old son of former San Francisco Giants baseball star Barry Bonds was arrested in California after a violent fight with his mother, authorities say.
Menlo Park, Calif., police spokeswoman Nicole Acker said Nikolai Bonds was booked into the San Mateo County Jail Saturday after being arrested for allegedly spitting in his mother's face and throwing a metal doorknob at her while they were arguing, the Los Angeles Daily News reported Tuesday.
Bonds was released later Saturday after posting $50,000 bail, Assistant District Attorney Karen Guidotti told the newspaper, adding that no charges had yet been filed.
Police said they were called to the scene by a friend of Sun Bonds, 45, after her son allegedly destroyed hundreds of dollars worth of property at the home and blocked the door so she couldn't leave.
Acker said Nikolai Bonds threw a doorknob so hard it embedded itself in a wall, although it missed her.
The Daily News said Bonds was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, assault and battery, vandalism, false imprisonment, and obstructing and resisting an officer.
