Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

GAINESVILLE, Fla., Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Florida football coach Urban Meyer is recovering after being admitted to a hospital with dehydration, a team spokesman says.
Gators spokesman Steve McClain said Sunday that Meyer is "doing well now" after checking into Shands Medical Center in Gainesville early Sunday morning, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported.
The newspaper said Meyer did not talk about his hospitalization during a Sunday evening teleconference for the Allstate Sugar Bowl, reporting that a bowl official intervened twice when questions about the situation were posed to the coach.
The Sentinel said Meyer sounded healthy while he talked about the Gators and the team they will be facing Jan. 1 in New Orleans, the Cincinnati Bearcats.
