
SEATTLE, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Isaiah Thomas scored 21 points and Quincy Pondexter 20 Sunday as 10th-ranked Washington defeated Cal State Northridge 88-76.
Thomas scored more than half his points from the foul line, where he sank 13-of-15.
Abdul Gaddy added 11 points and Matt Bryan-Amaning pulled down 10 rebounds for the Huskies (6-1), who recovered from their overtime loss to Texas Tech Thursday.
The Matadors (4-4), who got 14 points from Vinnie McGhee and 10 from Kevin Menner, ended a three-game win streak.
The Matadors took an early 13-9 lead on a shot from Lenny Daniels but Washington responded with eight straight points. The Huskies widened their lead to 32-22 with 5:45 remaining in the first half on a foul shot by Tyreese Breshers and had a 46-34 lead by halftime.
But the Matadors went on an 11-point tear and moved to within 48-47 on a McGhee jumper with 15:36 left.
Washington regained control with a 3-pointer by Pondexter, a jam by Bryan-Amaning and a 3-pointer by Scott Suggs and led 56-47 with 13:05 remaining. From there, the Huskies continued to dominate.
The Matadors shot 41.3 percent from the field and the Huskies shot 40.3 percent.. Washington won the battle of the boards 50-30.
Washington leads the series between the two teams 4-0.
