NHL: Boston 7, Toronto 2

BOSTON, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- A hat trick from Marc Savard helped power the Boston Bruins past the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs 7-2 Saturday.

Marco Strum and Zdeno Chara each chipped in a goal and an assist for the Bruins in a game in which both teams had 33 shots on goal.

Savard scored the first and last goals of the contest for Boston as well as a second-period power-play tally that put the Bruins ahead 4-0.

Tuukka Rask made 31 saves and kept the Leafs, who won four of their previous five games, off the board until the third period.

Mikhail Grabovski and Niklas Hagman scored for Toronto. Joey McDonald played goalie for the Leafs for the first two periods and gave up four goals on 23 shots. Vesa Toskala took over in the third period but didn't have much success either, giving up three scores on 10 shots.
