COL BKB: Duke 80, Saint John's 71

DURHAM, N.C., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Kyle Singler's 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists Saturday led fifth-ranked Duke to an 80-71 victory over Saint John's.

Duke raced to a 40-24 halftime advantage with a 31-15 spurt, then quelled each Storm rally attempt in the final 20 minutes, extending its non-ACC home winning streak to 73 games.

The closest Saint John's got was 58-52 with 8:20 left on a 3-pointer by Omari Lawrence.

Nolan Smith had 16 points and three assists.

Jon Scheyer had 15 points, six assists and two blocked shots.

Lance Thomas scored 11 with eight rebounds.

Brian Zoubek scored 11 with seven rebounds, while Singler added four steals for the Blue Devils (7-1), who bounced back from a 73-69 loss at Wisconsin Wednesday.

D.J. Kennedy led St. John's with 18 points, four rebounds and nine assists.

Sean Evans scored 17 with six rebounds, but no other player reached double figures for the Storm (6-1).
