TORONTO, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Mark Sanchez threw a touchdown pass before leaving with a knee injury Thursday and the New York Jets held on to defeat Buffalo 19-13.
The game was played at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, the sixth time an NFL regular-season contest has been conducted outside the United States.
Sanchez hit Braylon Edwards with a 13-yard scoring throw with 44 seconds left in the first half to give the Jets a 16-10 lead.
The Jets quarterback injured his right knee during the third quarter while sprawling forward in an effort to pick up a first down. At the end of the drive, Sanchez walked to the trainers for attention and he then went to the locker room with a slight limp.
Sanchez, the fifth pick in this year's draft, completed 7-of-15 passes for 104 yards. Kellen Clemens came in for Sanchez and threw only two passes the rest of the way while the Jets turned to a conservative approach.
New York's Jay Feely kicked his fourth field goal of the game on the first play of the fourth quarter to give the Jets a 19-10 cushion.
Rian Lindell brought Buffalo within six points on a 32-yard field goal with 5:28 remaining.
The Bills regained the ball at their own 23-yard line with 2:32 to go, but a long pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick intended for Terrell Owens was intercepted by Darrelle Revis to clinch the New York win.
New York climbed to 6-6 and kept its wild-card playoff hopes alive. Buffalo fell to 4-8.
