Drew Brees earns NFC player honor

NEW YORK, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is the NFC Offensive Player of the Week after throwing five touchdown passes against New England.

Brees, in his ninth NFL season, made the Saints 11-0 Monday night for the first time in franchise history, completing 18-of-23 passes for 371 yards in their 38-17 victory.

He is the second player in league history to pass for at least 350 yards and complete at least 75 percent of his passes with no interceptions in a single contest, joining Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Also garnering NFC honors were Green Bay cornerback Charles Woodson (Defense) and Arizona kick returner La Rod Stephens-Howling (Special Teams).

Woodson became the first player in NFL history with two interceptions, an interception-return touchdown, one sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the Packers 34-12 win at Detroit.

Stephens-Howling had a 99-yard kick-return touchdown and downed punts at the five-, two- and one-yard lines in the Cardinals' 20-17 loss at Tennessee.
