LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- UCLA sophomore forward Drew Gordon has left the team, Bruins coach Ben Howland announced Tuesday.
Gordon's departure, which comes after unranked UCLA lost all three of its games of the holiday weekend 76 Classic tournament in Anaheim, Calif., was a mutual decision, Howland told reporters.
"After several discussions with Drew, we both have decided that it is in the best interests of our program and Drew that he continues his career at another school," Howland said. "He is no longer a member of our team and will transfer at the end of the quarter."
The Bruins' 6-foot-9 forward averaged 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in six games for UCLA, logging nearly 25 minutes per contest.
"This is not a spur of the moment decision and ultimately, it's what's best for all parties," Howland said.
