RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Carolina defenseman Joe Corvo has been placed on injured reserve and will miss at least two months of the NHL schedule because of a leg laceration.
Corvo's lower right leg was cut by a skate when he collided with Washington defenseman Karl Alzner during the first period of the Hurricanes' loss Monday to the Capitals. The injury occurred shortly after Corvo scored his fourth goal of the season.
