NEW YORK, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh center Sidney Crosby, who collected his second hat trick of the season last Saturday, was voted the top star of the week by the NHL.

NHL officials honor three players each Monday for play the previous week. For games played Nov. 23-29, Crosby earned No. 1 star recognition while New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur and Toronto forward Niklas Hagman also took honors.

Crosby marked Cap Night at the Penguins' game Saturday with three goals and two assists for a 5-point game in an 8-3 win over the New York Rangers. Over four games last week, Crosby had five goals and three assists, giving him 14 points over his last nine games.

Brodeur was 3-0 last week, giving up one goal in each contest and increased his NHL record for victories to 572.

Hagman had five goals over three games, posting two-goal games against Tampa Bay and Florida.
