EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Rookie Mark Sanchez avoided the big mistake while the defense gave up just 176 total yards Sunday and the New York Jets bagged a 17-6 win over Carolina.
Before Sunday's victory, the first-round draft pick had thrown six interceptions in the past two contests, including four in last Sunday's 31-14 loss to New England, but the one he threw against Carolina did not affect the outcome.
Darrelle Revis scored on a 67-yard, first-quarter interception return, Thomas Jones gained 75 yards on 25 carries with a touchdown, Jay Feely kicked a 47-yard fourth-quarter field goal, and Sanchez passed for 154 yards for the Jets, who ended their a three-game losing streak.
Carolina's Jake Delhomme completed just 14-of-34 passes for 130 yards with four interceptions, two by Revis.
John Kasay kicked two field goals, and running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart were held to 75 rushing yards on 25 carries for the 4-7 Panthers.
