IRVING, Texas, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Florida and Alabama meet Saturday for their conference championship with a spot in the Bowl Championship Series title game also on the line.
The Gators and Crimson Tide remained the top two teams in the next-to-last BCS poll, released Sunday. They play each other in the Southeastern Conference championship Saturday. The winner will be 13-0 and, unless something truly outlandish occurs, will earn a spot in the BCS final Jan. 7, in Pasadena, Calif. The final BCS poll is to be announced Sunday.
The BCS rankings are computed by factoring in the USA Today Coaches' and Harris Interactive polls along with a series of computer ratings. Florida is first in both polls and tied with Alabama at the top of the computer averages.
Texas (12-0) is No. 2 in the polls and fourth in the computer averages but would likely sew up a spot in the BCS finale with a win Saturday over Nebraska in the Big 12 Conference championship game.
Waiting in the wings are No. 4 Texas Christian (12-0), fifth-ranked Cincinnati (11-0 going into game at Pittsburgh) and No. 6 Boise State (12-0).
The rest of the BCS Top 10 has Oregon (9-2) in seventh followed by, in order, Ohio State (10-2), Iowa (10-2) and Georgia Tech (10-2).
