DENVER, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Carmelo Anthony produced a career-high 50 points Friday and Denver survived down the stretch to defeat New York 128-125.

Anthony's last two points came at the free throw line and gave Denver a four-point lead, but Al Harrington scored on a layup with 6.4 seconds to play to bring the Knicks within two.

J.R. Smith then went to the line for the Nuggets, but he could make only one with 4.4 seconds remaining, giving the Knicks a chance to tie it.

Denver played excellent defense on the inbounds pass and New York wound up failing to get off a shot.

Anthony hit 17-of-28 shots from the field and 15-of-16 from the line. Chauncey Billups added 32 points with eight assists and Smith had 17 points.

Denver, which went into the night's action tied with Portland atop the Northwest Division, won its fourth straight game.

Harrington led the Knicks with 41 points. New York has dropped four straight.
