Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ST. PAUL, Minn., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Chuck Kobasew's second career hat trick propelled Minnesota to a 5-3 victory over Colorado Friday.
Andrew Brunette scored what turned out to be the winner on the power play in the third period and added an assist for the Wild, who finished a four-game homestand with a 2-1-1 mark. Owen Nolan also scored for Minnesota.
Niklas Backstrom made 31 saves for the winners.
"We want to try to get better every night," Backstrom said. "There's a lot of things we have to work on, but we're improving, we're getting there."
Chris Stewart, Kyle Quincey and Paul Stastny scored Colorado's goals. Craig Anderson made 27 saves.
The Avalanche have lost four of five overall.
