

RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Thrashers erupted for five third-period goals Friday in a 6-4 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
Carolina led 4-1 after two periods before Slava Kozlov, Ilya Kovalchuk, Maxim Afinogenov, Rich Peverley and Marty Reasoner (empty net) all scored in the game's final 13 1/2 minutes.
Evander Kane scored in the second and Afinogenov and Kovalchuk had one assist each, while net-minder Ondrej Pavelec gave up four goals on 36 shots for the Thrashers, who have split their last four games.
Carolina got one goal each from Erik Cole, Stephane Yelle, Sergei Samsonov and Matt Cullen (shorthanded).
Manny Legace gave up five goals on 33 shots for the Hurricanes, who established a franchise record with their 12th straight road loss Wednesday.
On the power play, Atlanta went 0-for-2, and Carolina went 0-for-5.
