DENVER, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The New Jersey Nets remained winless Tuesday with a 101-87 loss to the Denver Nuggets.
Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points and Nene added 17 to lead Denver and drop the Nets to 0-14, three losses away from the all-time NBA record for worst starts.
Arron Affalo scored 15 for the Nuggets and J.R. Smith had 13.
Rafer Alston and Devin Harris scored 19 points apiece for the Nets.
Denver started out quickly with an 11-0 run that contributed to a 22-14 Nuggets lead late in the first quarter. The lead was extended to 48-32 with 4 1/2 minutes left in the first half.
The Nets fought back with 10 unanswered points, six of which came on free throws, to cut Denver's lead to 55-43 at halftime. They stumbled after the break, however, and failed to score in the first 4 minutes of the third quarter while Denver rattled off eight points.
