NEW YORK, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- San Jose center Joe Thornton pushed his league-leading assists total to 25 last week and was selected the No. 1 star of the week by the NHL.

NHL officials pick three players of the week each Monday. Thornton took the top honor for games played Nov. 16-22 while Montreal goaltender Carey Price was the second star and Ottawa center Mike Fisher took third-star honors.

Thornton had two goals and six assists, including four assists in a 6-3 win Friday against Philadelphia. Three of those passes set up goals by Dany Heatley. He had the game-winning goal Saturday against Anaheim.

He has 25 assists and seven goals over 25 games this season.

Price stopped 94 of the 100 shots he faced while helping the Canadiens to a 2-0-1 week. He totaled 64 saves in games Friday and Saturday.

Fisher, who had 13 goals off of last season, pushed his 2009-10 total to nine with two goals against Toronto. It was his first two-game game since March 2008. He also amassed four assists in game against Pittsburgh and Buffalo.
