
EVANSVILLE, Ind., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Shelvin Mack scored 17 points with three rebounds and three assists Saturday, leading 10th-ranked Butler to a 64-60 win over Evansville.
Butler avoided an upset by holding off a rally from a 55-42 deficit by the Aces after Mack's layup with 2:42 left.
Butler's lead was 27-20 at the break.
Gordon Hayward had 15 points and six rebounds.
Willie Veasley scored 11 with six rebounds, while Matt Howard overcame five turnovers with 10 points and 13 rebounds for the unbeaten Bulldogs (3-0), who have won 11 of 12 against the Aces.
Colt Ryan led Evansville with 17 points, three rebounds and two steals.
James Haarsma, the only other player in double figures, scored 11 points with five rebounds for the Aces (2-1), who routed Oakland City and SIU-Edwardsville before their first loss.
