Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
HOUSTON, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Overnight rains led to Saturday's suspension of second-round play at the LPGA Tour Championship in Houston.
Officials shortened the event to 54 holes, with the second round resuming Sunday morning and the third scheduled for Monday.
"The conditions on the golf course were the worst we've seen all day," Doug Brecht, the LPGA's vice president of rules and competitions, said when play was suspended. "We could have tried to implement that plan and put it into effect and try to finish 72 holes by the end of the day Monday (but) we felt it was in the best interest of this event and for our players and everyone concerned to now shorten this event to 54 holes."
Leader Lorena Ochoa, who hasn't played since Thursday afternoon, is 6-under-par, with Reilley Rankin second at 5-under.
The second-round cut will be made Sunday, and the final round will include the Top 70 players.
