ATLANTA, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Josh Smith grabbed a rebound and slammed it home with less than a second remaining Friday to give Atlanta a 105-103 victory over Houston.
The Hawks won their seventh straight game and improved their NBA-best record to 11-2.
Houston trailed by eight points with less than 2 minutes to play, but came back to tie it with 5 seconds remaining on two free throws by Carl Landry.
Mike Bibby was called on to take the final shot for Atlanta, but missed it. That left just enough time, however, for Smith to leap high, seize the rebound and dunk it. The clock showed .07 seconds when the winning basket went through.
Smith was in the game for less than a minute of the fourth quarter due to foul problems.
Atlanta, which improved to 7-0 at home this season, got 29 points from Marvin Williams. He made 13-of-19 from the field. Jamal Crawford added 21 for the Hawks and Joe Johnson had 19.
The Rockets were led by Luis Scola with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Hawks played the finale of a four-game homestand.
