LOS ANGELES, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant hit the 40-point mark for the 100th time in his career Tuesday while leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 106-93 victory over Detroit.

Bryant's game-high 40 included nine points during a late second-quarter outburst in which the Lakers took a 52-39 lead.

Andrew Bynum had 17 points and a dozen rebounds for LA, which snapped a two-game losing streak. Shannon Brown scored a dozen off the bench.

Will Bynum led the Pistons with 24 points and six assists. Ben Gordon added 18.

A pair of layups by Will Bynum contributed to a 13-3 run by the Pistons that cut the Lakers' lead to 98-91 with less than 2 minutes to go. But Brown hit three free throws and added a slam dunk to shut the door on the Pistons' comeback.
