WASHINGTON, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Washington Capitals forward Quintin Laing will be sidelined up to six weeks with a broken jaw, continuing a nightmarish start to the 2009-10 NHL season.

Laing, 30, was hit in the face by a puck in the third period of Tuesday's 4-2 win over the New York Rangers. He also has been sidelined by a case of the N1H1 virus which caused him to miss three games last month.

"It's humbling," teammate Brooks Laich said after Tuesday's victory, in which right wing Matt Bradley scored the game-winning goal in the third period despite being bloodied earlier in a fight with New York's Aaron Voros.

The Capitals also said left wing Alexander Semin will miss time with a right wrist injury.
