OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- The Golden State Warriors likely have lost swingman Kelenna Azubuike for the season with a knee surgery that will require surgery Wednesday.

The Oakland Tribune reports Azubuike will have a torn patella tendon in his left knee repaired in Phoenix by Dr. Tom Carter. The newspaper said since it usually takes five to six months to rehabilitate after that type of operation, he won't play again this season.

Azubuike, who was hurt in Saturday's loss at Milwaukee, averaged 13.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in nine games this season, his fourth year in the NBA.
