PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Jerry Glanville has resigned as football coach at Portland State University in Oregon, the school announced Tuesday.

Glanville, 68, managed just a 9-24 record in three years with the Vikings, including a 2-9 mark this season. Portland State was 1-7 in the Big sky Conference.

"I want to thank Coach Glanville for his dedication to Portland State football and the greater university and community," Athletics Director Torre Chisholm said. "Although the program didn't achieve the competitive success that either of us hoped for, it was not for lack of effort or commitment."

Glanville came to Portland packing 20 years of NFL coaching experience plus nine more at the college level.
