SUNRISE, Fla., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Nathan Horton's goal lifted the Florida Panthers to a 5-4 shootout win over the New York Islanders Saturday.
Horton scored in the fourth round of the shootout with a wrist shot after both teams had scored once in the first three rounds.
The Islanders scored a pair of goals in the third period to force a scoreless overtime that went on to the shootout.
Toma Vokun registered 36 saves in the game and then denied Sean Bergenheim in the shootout after Horton's goal to preserve the win. Cory Stillman, Stephen Weiss, Michael Frolik and Rostislav Olesz scored in regulation for the Panthers.
Frolik's goal at 3:03 of the third period gave the Panthers a 4-2 lead but New York battled back with power-play goals by John Tavares and Kyle Okposo to tie the contest.
Tim Jackman and Trent Hunter also scored for the Islanders. Dwayne Roloson had 38 saves in the game.
